SPI / AOI Process Engineer

About the role

The SPI / AOI Process Engineer will design, develop, and continuously improve Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI) programs for surface‑mount technology (SMT) production. Working with Koh Young and TRI inspection platforms, you will support both new‑product introduction (NPI) and high‑volume manufacturing, ensuring high defect detection while minimizing false calls.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimize SPI and AOI programs for NPI and ongoing production runs.
• Analyze SPI measurement data, SPC trends, and set process control limits and alarm thresholds.
• Troubleshoot solder printing issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain and refine AOI libraries, component databases, and reduce false calls without compromising detection effectiveness.
• Support first‑article inspection, NPI qualification, and analyze AOI escape defects.
• Train technicians and operators on AOI/SPI equipment and best practices.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of experience in SMT manufacturing.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on SPI programming experience.
• At least 2 years of hands‑on AOI programming experience.
• Experience with offline programming stations and high‑mix EMS environments.
• Ability to work independently in a fast‑paced setting.
