Software Engineer - Ubuntu Server Certification

About the role
Canonical is looking for a Software Engineer to join its Server Certification team. You will develop and maintain Python‑based testing tools that validate Ubuntu Server on the latest enterprise hardware, ensuring a smooth out‑of‑the‑box experience for customers.
Key responsibilities
- Contribute to open‑source testing frameworks such as Checkbox and Testflinger.
- Troubleshoot hardware compatibility, functionality, and performance issues.
- Provide technical support to hardware partners during certification.
- Educate partners on Canonical tools, processes, and product roadmaps.
- Assist internal teams with deployments of Datacenter and Cloud products on partner hardware.
- Work remotely with 2–4 trips per year for internal and external events.
Required profile
- Strong knowledge of Python and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with server‑class hardware and Ubuntu Linux.
- Understanding of virtualization and cloud‑computing concepts.
- Comfortable interacting with customers and partners.
