Senior Backend Engineer – Remote – Latin America

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to help build and scale a cutting‑edge platform that combines cloud infrastructure, data intelligence, and artificial intelligence. You will work on high‑impact systems that process large volumes of data, integrate with leading AI technologies, and support mission‑critical decision‑making for enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs using TypeScript, Node.js, Express, Python, and FastAPI.
• Build and optimise backend systems, databases, and data‑processing workflows to meet product and business needs.
• Develop and maintain integrations with AI platforms and Large Language Models (OpenAI, Gemini, Anthropic, etc.).
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Engineering teams to define technical solutions and deliver impactful features.
• Improve application performance, reliability, and scalability across a growing platform.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues while enhancing observability and monitoring.
• Contribute to architectural decisions and shape the technical direction of the platform.
• Build and maintain cloud‑native solutions leveraging Google Cloud services.

Required profile

• 5+ years of professional backend engineering experience with TypeScript, Node.js, and Express.
• Strong experience building APIs and services using Python and FastAPI.
• Solid expertise with PostgreSQL (schema design, query optimisation, performance tuning).
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable, production‑grade distributed systems.
• Proficiency with Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud environments.
• Familiarity with serverless architectures and cloud‑native services.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot production systems and implement observability best practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and ability to work independently in a remote, fast‑paced environment.
