Principal SQL Database Administrator

About the role

Join FullStack's talent network as a Principal SQL Database Administrator, working remotely with U.S. clients on large‑scale database environments. You will integrate directly into client teams, collaborating daily with designers and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server across 1,000+ databases or equivalent enterprise environments.
• Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization, including indexing strategies and execution‑plan analysis.
• Establish DBA standards, procedures, and best practices where formal processes are lacking.
• Provide proactive identification and resolution of database performance bottlenecks.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional database administration experience.
• Advanced English proficiency and a completed four‑year college degree.
• Ability to work with regular overlap during Canadian business hours (Vancouver/Pacific or Toronto/Eastern).
• Consultative mindset with strong ownership and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Microsoft SQL Server administration in Windows‑hosted environments.
• SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and execution‑plan analysis.
• CI/CD pipeline creation and maintenance for database applications.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum development processes.
