Platform Engineer – Build Self‑Service Developer Platform

About the role

We are looking for a Platform Engineer to design and launch a self‑service developer platform for multiple product teams. This full‑time, six‑month contract role will work closely with engineering leadership to build the foundation from the ground up.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement shared infrastructure components such as GKE, Istio, ArgoCD, Terraform and CI/CD templates.
• Own the authentication and identity layer, including Keycloak, BFF services and OPA policies.
• Develop and maintain backend platform services and a React‑based frontend shell handling auth, routing and tenant context.
• Set up the platform foundation in phases – from cluster provisioning to core services like AlloyDB, OpenTelemetry, ESO and Valkey.
• Manage database platform concerns such as connection pooling and tenant schema provisioning.
• Build observability pipelines, dashboards and alerts to give product teams automatic instrumentation.
• Support emerging data‑platform components (e.g., Redpanda, Temporal, KServe, CDC, Iceberg) and harden the platform for production readiness.

Required profile

• 5+ years of platform or DevOps engineering experience.
• Proven experience with Kubernetes, Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands‑on work with identity and authentication systems and infrastructure automation.
• Ability to learn new tools quickly, work autonomously and ask clarifying questions when needed.
• Comfort building 0‑to‑1 platforms and a generalist, learning‑first mindset.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
