Mechanical Design Engineer I-1 – Battery Pack Systems

About the role

Integer is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of custom battery packs and charging systems. The role sits within the Engineering Group and works closely with other design engineers, technicians, sales and marketing teams and customers in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment. It is a lead position covering conceptualization, development, modeling, prototyping and testing of new battery pack systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead new battery pack development in primary and secondary battery systems, from concept based on customer specifications through to manufacturing implementation.
• Initiate and implement engineering drawings, change orders and specifications.
• Work with colleagues and customers on new opportunities, acting as the lead engineering contact.
• Conduct prototype assembly and analysis to demonstrate design efficacy.

Required profile

• Proven ability to take concepts through design validation and into production.
• Self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills and strong teamwork ability.
• Basic project management skills are desirable.

Required skills

• Superior mechanical design and layout skills; ability to integrate electronic controls into mechanical designs (e.g., fuel gauging).
• Good understanding of DC power supplies (primary and secondary lithium).
• Design analysis using simulation software such as finite element analysis, thermal analysis and battery power and energy analysis.
• 3D CAD, preferably SolidWorks, and ability to create electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• DFM and FMEA skills required; prior PCB design and layout skills helpful.
• Electrical basics and packaging experience highly desirable.
