Lead SDET – Test Automation & Mobile Testing

About the role

Tata Consultancy Services is looking for a hands‑on Lead Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to shape quality strategy, drive test‑automation excellence and expand mobile‑testing capabilities across several Agile teams. The role blends deep technical expertise with people leadership to ensure high‑quality software delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow QA Engineers, Automation Engineers and SDETs across multiple Agile squads.
• Define and implement test‑automation and quality‑engineering strategies for web, mobile and API testing.
• Design, build and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Selenium, Cypress, Appium and related tools.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps workflows.
• Establish quality metrics, test‑coverage standards and release‑readiness criteria.
• Collaborate with Engineering Managers, Product Owners, Business Analysts and Technical Leads throughout the SDLC.
• Drive automation‑first testing practices to reduce manual effort.
• Provide technical leadership on automation architecture, framework design and test strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading QA/Automation teams in an Agile environment.
• Strong hands‑on background in mobile automation (Appium) and web automation.
• Ability to mentor engineers and promote QA best practices across the organization.
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross‑functional stakeholders.
