Infrastructure Engineer – Core Infrastructure

About the role

We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join the Core Infrastructure – Platforms team at Payward. You will help evolve and scale our OpenStack‑based private cloud and Ceph storage platform, providing a reliable foundation for all Kraken workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot OpenStack components – Nova (compute), Neutron (networking) and Ironic (provisioning).
• Learn and support Ceph storage architecture, including Cinder and Kubernetes CSI integrations.
• Handle feature requests and support tickets for OpenStack and storage systems.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to resolve complex full‑stack issues and reduce operational toil.
• Develop automation and tooling to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
• Write and maintain documentation, runbooks and operational guides.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation to ensure platform reliability.

Required profile

• 3+ years of experience as an Infrastructure, Platform or DevOps Engineer.
• Hands‑on experience building or maintaining an OpenStack private cloud or a Ceph storage platform.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and Linux operating systems.
• Solid networking knowledge (TCP/IP, DNS, IP addressing, routing, TLS, PKI).
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to stakeholders and support engineering teams.
