Head of Platform Engineering

About the role

dLocal is looking for a Head of Platform Engineering to lead the design, delivery, and reliability of its core engineering platform. You will shape how the company builds, ships, and operates software, embedding AI into the workflow and ensuring production stability for a high‑volume payments platform serving emerging markets.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the internal developer platform (IDP) strategy, ensuring standardisation, reliability and AI integration across engineering teams.
• Drive engineering productivity initiatives that increase velocity while reducing defects, rollbacks and technical debt.
• Lead the site‑reliability engineering (SRE) posture, including incident response, rollback guarantees and reliability metrics.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to align platform roadmap with business goals and regulatory requirements in Latin America, Africa and Asia.
• Provide executive‑level visibility on automation and AI adoption programs and influence engineering strategy.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading large‑scale platform or infrastructure organisations in a fast‑moving, high‑transaction environment.
• Strong track record of improving engineering productivity and reliability through standardised tooling and processes.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive cross‑functional change at an organisational level.
• Excellent communication skills and a customer‑centric mindset.
