GCP DBA Administrator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our Data Engineering team. The position focuses on managing, scaling, and optimizing database infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP). You will work closely with engineering teams to select the right database technology and ensure high performance and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Provision, configure, and manage GCP databases such as Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL), Cloud Spanner, and Firestore.
• Automate database deployments, updates, and scaling using Terraform (IaC).
• Partner with software engineers during design phases to evaluate use‑cases and recommend relational, NoSQL, or distributed SQL solutions.
• Analyze query execution plans, identify bottlenecks, and collaborate with developers to optimize queries.
• Design and implement backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery strategies, ensuring multi‑region high availability.
• Enforce security best practices, manage IAM roles, encryption, and audit access.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Database Administrator in production environments.
• Hands‑on expertise with GCP database services: Cloud SQL, Cloud Spanner, and Firestore.
• Strong background in Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform.
• Deep knowledge of SQL, query tuning, and database performance optimization.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Bash for automation.
• Understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, private IP, Cloud SQL Auth Proxy).
