Director of Product Design

About the role

Deel is building the operating system for global work and needs a senior design leader to own the design agenda for a major area of its platform. As Director of Product Design you will lead a team, shape strategy alongside product and engineering, and ensure a cohesive experience across payroll, HR, benefits and more.

Key responsibilities

• Build and run a design team of 5‑9 designers, hiring, developing talent and setting craft standards.
• Partner with Product and Engineering leadership as a peer to define vision, strategy and AI‑driven experiences for the platform.
• Align multiple product areas and roadmaps to deliver a unified, end‑to‑end user experience.
• Lead the integration of AI into both product experiences and design team workflows.
• Own design quality, business impact and outcomes of shipped work.

Required profile

• 10+ years of product design experience with recent Director‑level responsibility.
• Proven track record leading teams of seven or more designers in growth‑stage or scaled SaaS companies.
• Strong ability to influence senior product and engineering peers without direct authority.
• Experience shaping complex B2B/enterprise products serving multiple personas.

Required skills

• Deep expertise in interaction and visual design for complex systems.
• Hands‑on experience with AI‑powered product experiences and AI‑enabled design workflows.
• Data‑savvy mindset for measuring product and business outcomes.
• Comfort with system architecture, technical constraints and compliance‑heavy domains.
