Custodian – Facility Cleaning & Hazardous Waste

About the role

We are looking for a Custodian to maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned areas, ensuring a safe and pleasant environment for staff and visitors.

Key responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties according to the daily schedule.
• Handle hazardous waste – collect, classify, sort, store, ship, receive, label, clean, recycle and package special waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to the supervisor.
• Comply with all safety rules, policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with team members and support shift leads.
• Maintain a clean work area and follow company protocols.
• Use proper personal protective equipment and present a professional appearance.
• Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co‑workers, managers and customers.
• Fill in during staff shortages and assist with punch‑list items.

Required profile

• No specific education required; 3‑6 months of training or experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license may be required.
• Completed safety and task‑training certifications; forklift certification may be required.
• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures and manuals.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, compounds and chemicals.
