Accountant – Montevideo, Uruguay

About the role

Pacific International Lines is seeking an Accountant to manage financial reporting and accounting activities for its Montevideo operation. The role ensures accuracy, integrity and compliance with local GAAP, tax regulations and group policies while supporting audits and internal controls.

Key responsibilities

• Lead month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end closing in accordance with local GAAP.
• Maintain statutory accounting and ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll and social security accruals.
• Manage fixed assets, depreciation, bank, suspense and clearing accounts.
• Prepare annual statutory financial statements, including notes.
• Consolidate monthly reporting to HQ using Oracle GFS / FCCS within the Day +5 deadline.
• Apply exchange‑rate rules for financial reporting.
• Guarantee full compliance with national tax requirements, calculate tax provisions and deferred tax.
• Coordinate with tax advisors, regional tax teams and HQ on fiscal interpretations.
• Ensure compliance with local transfer‑pricing obligations and validate intercompany charges, shared services, management fees and cost‑plus margins.
• Lead annual external audit and statutory review processes, ensuring audit readiness.
• Coordinate internal audit visits and follow up on findings.
• Maintain a robust internal control environment aligned with regional and HQ audit standards.
• Enforce segregation of duties and adherence to the Group Delegation of Authority.

Required profile

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Proven experience with local GAAP, statutory accounting and financial closing.
• Strong knowledge of national tax regulations and transfer‑pricing rules.
• Hands‑on experience coordinating external and internal audits.
• Ability to work with cross‑functional teams and external advisors.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
