Senior Cloud & DevOps Engineer – Azure Data Platform

About the role

Blend is seeking a Senior Cloud & DevOps Engineer to lead the design, build, and production readiness of a foundational Azure data platform for a large telecommunications client. You will be responsible for provisioning and operating core Azure services, establishing CI/CD pipelines, and ensuring the platform meets security and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement Azure cloud infrastructure, including Entra ID, subscription hierarchy, naming conventions, and tagging.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Development, Test, and Production environments.
• Provision Azure resources as code using Terraform (Data Factory, Data Lake, networking, firewall rules, ExpressRoute/VPN).
• Configure Azure DevOps and integrate Git with Databricks or Snowflake for version‑controlled deployments.
• Enable monitoring, logging, alerting, and telemetry for platform health and user feedback.
• Define operational controls for reliability, performance, scalability, and incident response.
• Implement secure access patterns with Entra ID, Azure Key Vault, RBAC, and data‑level security for PIPEDA compliance.
• Produce runbooks, documentation, and an IaC handover package for client IT ownership.
• Support cost management and network performance tuning.

Required profile

• Extensive experience with Azure‑native architecture and regulated‑environment operations.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure‑as‑code (Terraform) and release engineering.
• Proven ability to work closely with Data Engineers, BI consultants, and governance teams.
• Deep understanding of security, compliance (PIPEDA), and enterprise‑grade platform operations.
