QA Automation Lead (Playwright / AI)

About the role

GlobalLogic is looking for an experienced Lead QA Automation Engineer to drive quality strategy and technical execution for an AI-first software project in partnership with a leading US-based commercial and retail banking institution. The role combines technical expertise with QA leadership: defining automation standards, mentoring the engineering team, driving in-sprint automation and integrating AI tools into daily quality workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and maintenance of Playwright scripts so that user stories are automated within each sprint.
• Implement and optimise AI tools to generate test cases from acceptance criteria and perform root-cause failure analysis.
• Maintain and scale structured automation frameworks with reusable utilities, fixtures and maintainable patterns.
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines via GitHub Actions for fast feedback to developers.
• Oversee test metrics, remove testing bottlenecks and promote a culture of quality.
• Define the overall QA strategy, automation standards and quality engineering approach.
• Mentor QA engineers on Playwright, TypeScript, clean code and AI-assisted testing.
• Work with Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Development Leads to bring testing early in the lifecycle.

Required profile

• Minimum 5+ years in QA Automation, including leading QA initiatives or mentoring technical teams.
• Solid experience designing and scaling frameworks with the Page Object Model, custom fixtures and reusable utility classes.
• Strong cross-functional communication, decision-making and team enablement skills.

Required skills

• Expert-level Playwright with TypeScript.
• CI/CD integration with GitHub repositories and GitHub Actions pipelines.
• Jira and modern test management tools, preferably AIO Tests.
• Demonstrated use of AI-assisted tools for script generation, debugging and test coverage.
