Purchasing Specialist

About the role

The Purchasing Specialist will support Merck entities in the end‑to‑end Procure‑to‑Pay (P2P) process, ensuring compliance with internal policies and delivering excellent service to internal customers and suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Validate purchase requisitions, create and follow up purchase orders in the ERP system.
• Respond to internal and supplier inquiries regarding order status, changes, cancellations, returns and payment issues.
• Provide system and policy training to users and execute spot‑buy activities.
• Expedite deliveries, manage shortages, returns and invoice receipt (including Brazil‑specific invoicing).
• Handle Tier 2 ticket inquiries, manage escalations and support the Supplier Care team.
• Monitor service level agreements, operational metrics and contribute to performance reporting, root‑cause analysis and CAPA.
• Participate in ERP improvement projects, transformation initiatives and local process optimisation.
• Prepare documentation for audits and internal control requirements.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of procurement policies, ethics and compliance.
• Excellent communication skills with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proactive problem‑solver with a focus on continuous improvement.
