Head of Finance (Remote, Punta del Este)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency is a fully remote US digital agency of 30 to 40 people running websites, SEO, paid media and branding. As Head of Finance you own finance end to end, plus the people operations that go with it, working directly with ownership and a fractional CFO. The position is full time, remote, and open to candidates in Latin America or South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Finance: keep the books clean with the bookkeeper, run the monthly close, manage cash, payables, receivables and controls.
• FP&A: build revenue, margin and cash flow models and forecasts, track monthly actuals versus forecast, unit economics and the hiring capacity model.
• People operations: handle onboarding and offboarding for a remote team across several countries, manage contracts, set up payroll and control access in and out.
• Give ownership plain answers on where the business stands and what to do about it.

Required profile

• Has run finance independently before: built the models, owned the close and reported to ownership on the numbers.
• Independent and driven, able to work without a checklist.
• Full time as your only job, with substantial overlap with US business hours.
• Services or agency finance experience is a plus.

Required skills

• Strong Google Sheets or Excel.
• QuickBooks or Xero.
• Clear written and spoken English.
