Design Systems Lead (Remote, Punta del Este)

About the role

Blacksmith Agency builds websites and marketing programs for US clients. As Design Systems Lead you will own the creation of client design systems, turning brand guidelines into reusable token architectures and component libraries. This senior, systems‑first position focuses on building robust, scalable solutions across multiple brands.

Key responsibilities

• Build token architecture in Figma using variables, modes, and semantic naming that our pipeline can read predictably.
• Ship core component libraries that hold up across entire sites, not just homepages.
• Document the system so developers or automated pipelines can execute it without questions.
• Work across several client brands simultaneously, each with distinct visual identities but shared structural rigor.

Required profile

• 4+ years designing for the web with real design‑system work showcased in a portfolio.
• Fluency in Figma variables, component properties, auto‑layout, and variants – actual architecture, not just tidy files.
• Portfolio demonstrates varied client work while maintaining consistent underlying rigor.
• Strong English skills and availability that overlaps with US business hours.
