Data Science Manager

About the role

Blend is seeking a Data Science Manager to lead advanced analytics initiatives in a large retail environment. The role combines deep technical expertise with strategic influence, helping shape product and digital experiences through data‑driven insights.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy predictive models (e.g., churn, propensity, recommendation systems) to optimize the customer journey.
• Analyze large‑scale datasets to uncover user behavior patterns, friction points, and growth opportunities.
• Partner with product, marketing, and business stakeholders to define data‑driven strategies and prioritize road‑maps.
• Translate business problems into analytical frameworks and deliver actionable insights.
• Mentor and guide data scientists, promoting best practices in modeling and analytics.
• Communicate complex findings to non‑technical audiences clearly and persuasively.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to ensure data availability and quality.
• Continuously improve A/B testing frameworks and measurement methodologies.

Required profile

• Strong experience in data science with a focus on product or digital analytics.
• Proven track record building and deploying predictive models.
• Advanced proficiency in Python or R for analysis and modeling.
• Solid knowledge of SQL and handling large datasets.
• Experience with experimentation frameworks (A/B testing).
• Business acumen to connect data insights with outcomes.
• Leadership or mentoring experience within data teams.
• Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.
