Assistant, Community Relations

About the role

The Assistant, Community Relations supports First Quantum’s commitment to responsible operations by maintaining open dialogue with local communities, gathering field information, and ensuring social projects are delivered effectively.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain direct, regular, and respectful communication with community leaders and key actors.
• Support field data collection on organizations, beneficiaries, projects, and community concerns.
• Register, channel, and follow up on complaints, requests, and perceived social risks.
• Assist in the execution of company‑led social projects, monitoring progress, deliverables, and local perceptions.
• Participate in community meetings, workshops, and socialization events, taking notes and preparing minutes.
• Update community databases, social maps, and monitoring tools.
• Track commitments made under environmental impact assessments or voluntary programs.
• Detect and escalate early alerts of social conflicts or deviations from commitments.
• Provide logistical support for field activities such as technical visits, health days, and supply deliveries.
• Coordinate with Program Officers to validate social indicators linked to projects.
• Document and formally close community projects, confirming delivery to beneficiaries.
• Prepare periodic reports on community activities.
• Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor.

Required profile

• University studies in Social Sciences, Community Development, Social Work, Communication, Administration, Engineering or related fields (or equivalent field experience).
• Minimum 2 years of experience in community work, social development, or participatory programs.
• Experience with rural or indigenous communities is desirable.
• Strong judgment, critical thinking, and service orientation.
• Valid driver’s license is a plus.
