AIT Optics Engineer – Optical Payload Manufacturing

About the role

The AIT Optics Engineer will lead the full lifecycle of optical payload manufacturing for Satellogic’s Earth Observation satellites, from component procurement to launch readiness. Working within the Assembly, Integration and Testing (AIT) team, you will act as the primary liaison with the manufacturing plant and ensure that optical systems meet rigorous performance and schedule requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the optical payload manufacturing process, coordinating purchasing, production, and launch activities.
• Serve as the main contact for the manufacturing facility on all optical‑related matters.
• Design, execute, and document experiments at AIT facilities, analysing results to drive improvements.
• Gather requirements from optical engineers and develop testing hardware and software, including verification procedures.
• Develop and maintain automation tools for test execution and data collection.

Required profile

• Strong understanding of complex satellite systems and optics integration.
• Experience working in cross‑functional teams, including electronics, software, and manufacturing.
• Ability to follow detailed production plans and create validation and verification strategies.
• Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
