AI Engineer – Remote (US SaaS Startup)

About the role

We are looking for an AI Engineer to design, build, and maintain reliable automation that interacts with real‑world web portals and third‑party systems. The role focuses on speed, correctness, traceability, and security while supporting a fast‑growing, venture‑backed SaaS platform for frontline‑worker benefits.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and operate web‑portal automation workflows using Playwright and related tooling.
• Build automation services primarily in Python with supporting development in TypeScript.
• Implement evaluation/validation ("evals") to measure automation accuracy, catch regressions, and improve reliability.
• Maintain deterministic logging, event traces, artifacts, and reproducible runs for audit‑trail and compliance needs.
• Apply security‑first practices for handling sensitive data and workflows.
• Collaborate with engineering and product stakeholders to translate ambiguous processes into shippable automation.
• Enhance robustness against dynamic UIs, flaky states, rate limits, authentication flows, and partial failures.

Required profile

• Strong experience building production‑grade systems in Python and TypeScript.
• Hands‑on experience with Playwright or similar browser automation frameworks (Selenium, Puppeteer).
• Pragmatic "shipper" mindset prioritising reliable software delivery.
• Experience building observable systems with structured logs, metrics, alerts, and clear debugging workflows.
• Background in secure engineering practices such as secrets management, least‑privilege access, and safe handling of sensitive data.
