Senior Accountant – Real Estate & QuickBooks Online

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a Senior Accountant with deep real‑estate accounting expertise to manage the month‑end close for a portfolio of property and development entities. The role is hands‑on, independent and focused on accurate financial reporting across multiple entities.

Key responsibilities

• Own and execute the monthly close process for several real‑estate entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Maintain general ledger records for property and holding companies.
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage accounting for multiple properties and legal entities, including intercompany transactions and eliminations.
• Support job costing, project accounting and development activities.
• Assist with investor, lender reporting and draw requests.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, internal controls and deadlines.
• Collaborate with external CPAs, auditors and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of overall accounting experience, with at least 2 years in real‑estate accounting.
• Prior experience at a Senior Accountant or Junior Controller level.
• Proven ability to manage month‑end close independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Required skills

• QuickBooks Online or other cloud‑based accounting platforms.
• Real‑estate accounting fundamentals, including job costing and intercompany transactions.
