Principal SQL Database Administrator (Remote, Latin America)

About the role

We are looking for a Principal SQL Database Administrator to join our talent network and work on project‑based engagements with U.S. clients. This remote position focuses on managing large‑scale Microsoft SQL Server environments across Latin America, collaborating daily with designers and engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances at enterprise scale (1,000+ databases).
• Perform performance tuning, troubleshooting, and optimization of SQL Server workloads.
• Design and implement indexing strategies and manage index optimization.
• Analyze execution plans, query performance, waits, blocking, and locking issues.
• Establish and enforce DBA standards, procedures, and best practices.
• Proactively identify and resolve database performance bottlenecks.
• Maintain overall health and availability of the database environment.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional database administration experience.
• Advanced English proficiency.
• Completed a four‑year college degree.
• Ability to work with regular overlap during Canadian business hours (Pacific or Eastern).
• Strong ownership mentality and consultative mindset.
