Data Centre Fibre Technician

About the role

We are looking for a Data Centre Fibre Technician to join a hands‑on technical team operating a hyperscale data centre. The role involves precise installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of fiber optic infrastructure in a critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, replace, remove and organize fiber optic cables and jumpers.
• Perform rack‑and‑stack activities, cable routing, labeling and cable management.
• Diagnose faults, conduct testing and troubleshoot fiber connections.
• Use ticketing systems to record work and maintain accurate task logs.
• Manage inventory of materials and spare parts, reporting shortages.
• Strictly follow SOPs, technical procedures and safety protocols.
• Escalate issues promptly that could impact data centre operations.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience in data centres, telecommunications or other critical infrastructure.
• Practical knowledge of structured cabling and fiber optic installation.
• Fluent oral and written English (mandatory).
• Ability to follow technical documentation and work autonomously or within small teams.
• Physical capability to handle equipment up to approximately 23 kg.

Required skills

• Fiber optic cable installation and termination.
• Single‑mode and multi‑mode fiber testing and troubleshooting.
• Structured cabling best practices.
• Use of ticketing systems for incident management.
• Compliance with SOPs and safety standards.
• Material and spare‑part inventory management.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+/Network+, BICSI, CFOT) – a plus.
