Programme Assistant (Protection) – Temporary Appointment

About the role

The Programme Assistant (Protection) provides essential administrative and operational support to UNICEF's Protection Area in Montevideo. Working under the Programme Coordinator and the Head of the Protection Area, the incumbent ensures smooth implementation of child protection programmes and coordinates with technical teams, partners, and service providers.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual work plans and assist in drafting project inputs for the Child Protection Area.
• Facilitate contract processing for consultants, vendors and partnerships, including TOR uploads and Service Gateway transactions.
• Manage calendars, organise team meetings, draft minutes and maintain accurate filing of correspondence and records.
• Provide logistical and operational support for training sessions, workshops and conferences, coordinating vendors and venue arrangements.
• Participate in programme and protection meetings, ensuring follow‑up on key discussions and agreed actions.

Required profile

• Experience in administrative, financial and logistical support within an international or humanitarian context.
• Familiarity with child protection concepts, special protection systems, deinstitutionalisation, justice administration, migration and monitoring of children’s rights.
• Ability to work under supervision while delivering timely and accurate results.
