Country Director – Uruguay

About the role

MAG is seeking a senior leader to serve as its Country Director in Uruguay. The role provides strategic leadership, represents MAG locally, and ensures high‑quality delivery of programme activities that address the impacts of mines, explosive remnants of war and small arms.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, implement and manage the country programme in line with MAG’s standards.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation, risk assessment and mitigation for all projects.
• Lead multidisciplinary, multicultural teams, often in remote or complex environments.
• Develop new business opportunities, design programmes and negotiate contracts.
• Build and maintain relationships with donors, government bodies and local partners.
• Manage financial, administrative and human‑resource systems to ensure efficient delivery.
• Promote gender equity, diversity and inclusion across the team.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑management experience in international, complex operating environments.
• Proven track record of directing large‑scale projects from design through evaluation.
• Strong people‑management skills with experience leading multicultural teams.
• Demonstrated ability in business development, donor negotiation and partnership building.
• Experience overseeing multi‑grant financial management and budgetary oversight.
