Senior Controller – Consumer Industry

About the role

Howard Financial provides full‑service back‑office solutions for high‑growth companies, handling bookkeeping, payroll and bespoke reporting. We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Controller to lead our consumer‑industry accounting portfolio and the team that supports it.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full accounting cycle and lead month‑end/quarter‑end close processes.
• Lead, mentor and develop a team of accounting professionals.
• Drive AI and automation initiatives to streamline accounting workflows and reduce manual effort.
• Serve as the primary accounting contact for consumer‑portfolio clients, building relationships and presenting financial results.
• Oversee accounting operations across the consumer industry portfolio, ensuring consistency and accuracy.

Required profile

• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands‑on Controller or senior accounting leadership.
• Deep knowledge of the consumer industry (CPG, retail, or related).
• Proven experience implementing accounting automations or AI‑driven process improvements.
• Strong client‑facing and communication skills.
• CPA preferred; ERP proficiency required.
