Programme Assistant – Protection (GS-5 Temporary)

About the role

The Programme Assistant (Protection) provides cross‑sectoral support to UNICEF’s protection programmes in Uruguay. Reporting to the Programme Coordinator and the Head of the Protection Area, the incumbent ensures smooth coordination between technical teams, operations units, and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual work plans, ensuring planned results are achieved.
• Assist in drafting project documents and inputs for the Child Protection Area.
• Participate in programme and protection meetings, track key discussions and follow‑up on agreed actions.
• Facilitate processing of contracts for consultants, vendors and partnerships, including TOR uploads and Service Gateway transactions.
• Manage calendars, coordinate team meetings, draft minutes and reports, and ensure proper filing and dissemination of correspondence.
• Provide logistical and operational support for training sessions, workshops and conferences, including vendor coordination.

Required profile

• Experience in programme and project support within an international or humanitarian context.
• Strong administrative and financial coordination skills, including contract management.
• Ability to work collaboratively with technical, operational and external partners.
• Excellent organizational and communication abilities.
