Senior Frontend Software Engineer (Contractor)

About the role

Compass is looking for a senior frontend software engineer to join its Transaction Journey team on a contract basis. The role focuses on building a collaborative transaction management platform that simplifies the buying and selling process for real‑estate agents. You will work in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment delivering high‑quality web features for a cloud‑based real‑estate platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain user‑facing features using TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and React.
• Collaborate with product, design and engineering teams to translate requirements into responsive web components.
• Perform code reviews, write unit and integration tests, and ensure code quality.
• Create clear documentation, diagrams and runbooks for owned services.
• Own the lifecycle of frontend services, from implementation through operational improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building large‑scale, user‑facing web applications.
• Proven ability to work independently on complex tasks in an agile environment.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional product and design teams.
