Programme Assistant – Protection (GS-5, Temporary)

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a Programme Assistant to support the Protection area in Montevideo. The role provides administrative, operational and technical assistance to ensure smooth planning and delivery of child protection programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Support the preparation, implementation and monitoring of annual work plans and project documents for the Child Protection area.
• Assist in drafting terms of reference, processing contracts for consultants, vendors and partners, and handling Service Gateway transactions.
• Coordinate team calendars, organize meetings, draft minutes and maintain accurate records and filing systems.
• Provide logistical and operational support for trainings, workshops and conferences, including venue and vendor arrangements.
• Participate in programme and protection meetings, follow up on action items and ensure timely reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in programme or project support, preferably in humanitarian or child‑protection contexts.
• Strong administrative skills with ability to manage contracts, schedules and documentation.
• Good communication and coordination abilities to work with technical teams, operations units and external partners.
