Senior Controller – Short-Term Rental & Hospitality

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a proactive, tech‑forward Senior Controller to lead its rapidly growing Short‑Term Rental (STR) and Hospitality vertical. You will own the financial health of a portfolio of sophisticated clients, guide a remote team of accountants and bookkeepers, and act as the primary financial advisor to client executive teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end US GAAP financial reporting and month‑end close for STR/Hospitality clients.
• Mentor, guide, and review the work of a remote team of accountants and bookkeepers.
• Oversee complex owner‑fund and trust accounting structures with precision.
• Serve as the main advisor to client CEOs and investors, explaining P&L trends and cash‑flow projections.
• Implement scalable controls and standardize workflows as client portfolios expand.

Required profile

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or senior financial leadership role.
• Domain knowledge in Short‑Term Rentals, Property Management, or Hospitality.
• Strong command of US GAAP, multi‑entity consolidations, and trust accounting.
• Tech‑forward mindset with proficiency in modern accounting platforms.
• Self‑starter who can dig into messy data, fix inefficiencies, and communicate clearly with C‑suite stakeholders.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
