About the role

The Head of Secondary leads the secondary section of International College Uruguay, ensuring a positive culture and high standards for student achievement, staff development, and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Set and enforce rigorous academic standards aligned with school goals.
• Develop area goals consistent with the school’s strategic plan and foster a collaborative culture.
• Manage, evaluate, supervise and develop teachers and instructional staff, promoting research‑based teaching methods and data‑driven instruction.
• Ensure compliance with Uruguayan Ministry of Education regulations, Nord Anglia policies, and accreditation standards.
• Oversee budget development and management for the secondary area.
• Assist in recruitment, selection and performance appraisal processes.
• Serve as liaison between teachers, parents and the community, maintaining professional school‑community relations.

Required profile

• Proven leadership experience in a secondary school setting.
• Strong understanding of national education regulations and accreditation requirements.
• Ability to develop and implement strategic goals and operational procedures.
• Experience managing staff performance, professional development and budgeting.
• Excellent communication skills for engaging with staff, students, families and community stakeholders.
